Claude Seth Selby, 83, of Port Lavaca passed away October 9, 2018.He was born on December 5, 1934 in Port Lavaca to Claude and Edith Livingston Selby. Claude worked at Dow (Union Carbide) for 35 years before retiring in 1994. Claude was an avid skeet shooter and was very involved in the 4-H skeet program. He loved working with children and teaching them to shoot and learn about gun safety. He was instrumental in building the 4-H skeet field. Claude was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Claude is survived by his wife, Peggy Mickle Selby; brother-in-law, Willard (Mickey) Mickle of Port Lavaca; his son, David and wife DeLayne of Port Lavaca; daughters, Claudia Coward and husband Randy of Port Lavaca, and Connie Bonnilla and husband Lonnie of Anchorage, Alaska; grandchildren, Jennifer Hopmann of Port Lavaca, Tera Claybourn and husband Garrett of Port Lavaca, Heather Selby of Salisbury, NC, Travis Selby and wife Kendall of Port Lavaca, and Cody Kelton of Puyallup, Washington; great-grandchildren, Camryn Hopmann of Port Lavaca, Reece, Hannah, Caroline and Charlotte Claybourn of Port Lavaca, Hayleigh and McKenzie Safrit of Salisbury, NC and Miles Selby of Port Lavaca.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Edith Selby and a great-grandson, Reid Harrison Claybourn.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 5-6:30 p.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home, 123 Newlin St., Port Lavaca, TX. Claude will be buried in a ceremony at Greenlawn Gardens on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.
The family would like to thank the staff at Trinity Shores and Port Lavaca Nursing Home for all their loving care provided to Claude.
