Consuelo J. Villalobos, 75, of Port Lavaca, TX, passed away on August 10, 2018 in San Antonio, TX. Consuelo was born in Donna, TX, to the late Longino and Angelina Villalobos on January 30, 1943. She owned and operated the Monterrey Café since 1971. She was involved in the American GI Forum and the Friendly Mission Club. She received the Civic & Community Service Award through LULAC for her outstanding and dedicated service to the City of Port Lavaca, Texas and Calhoun County. She also received the Volunteer of the Year Award for her support and numerous donations to the community.
Consuelo is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Juan Villalobos; and sister, Seniada Aguayo Cornett.
Consuelo is survived by her son, Jaime Olivares; daughters, Becky (Steven) Smith, Joyce (Rudy) Rivera; grandchildren, Jaime Olivares II, Christara Smith, Carmelita Smith, Julia Rivera and Xavier Rivera; brothers, Reynaldo (late Elena) Villalobos, Valdemar Villalobos, and Encarnacion Ignacio (Linda) Villalobos; sisters, Yolanda (Noe) Quintanilla, Alma (Ruben) Reyna, Esperanza "Hopey" (Ernesto) Quintanilla; and sister-in-law, Maria (late Juan) Villalobos. She also leaves behind numerous nephews and nieces to cherish her memory.
A visitation will be held from 5 - 7pm Monday August 13, 2018 at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30am Tuesday August 14, 2018 at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church with Fr. Tommy Chen officiating. Burial will follow at the Port Lavaca Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jaime Olivares II, Xavier Rivera, Ray Anthony Villalobos, Juan Villalobos Jr., Valdemar Eloy Villalobos Jr., Noe A. Quintanilla II, Maximillian Villalobos, Ernesto Quintanilla Jr. and Christopher Aguayo.
The family of Consuelo Villalobos wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the medical staff that cared for her throughout her time of illness. Also, special thanks to all of her family, friends, employees and customers of the Monterrey Café.
