Edgar Coker, 78 of Port Lavaca passed away, October 20, 2014. He was born July 1, 1936 in Placedo, TX to the late Ed and Luda Whitely Coker. Edgar was a former Constable for Precinct #3 in Calhoun County for 12 years and also retired from ALCOA as an I & E Technician. Mr. Coker proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Navy. Edgar was a family man who loved to hunt and fish.
He is survived by his wife, Priscilla Anders Coker; daughters, Lisa Dennis and husband Quin of San Marcos, Lana White and husband Jason of Eagle, Idaho; son, Leslie “Les” Coker and wife Kelli of Tomball; 7 grandchildren, Cameron Dennis, Claire Dennis, Adam White, Natalie White, Shelby Coker, Taylor Coker and Reagan Coker.
In addition to his parents Edgar was preceded in death by his sister, Lois McGowan and brothers, Ed Coker, Jr. and Edwin Coker.
A time of visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at the Richardson Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10 am on Friday, October 24, 2014 at the New Beginnings Assembly of God in Port Lavaca with the Revs. Kenyon Hamilton, Gary Smith and Dean Holford officiating. Burial with full Military Honors under the direction of the Calhoun County Joint Honor Guard will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Cameron Dennis, Adam White, Brady Anders, Eddie Coker, G.G. Reynolds and Buyck McGowan. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Paul Bunnell and Dr. Tyson Meyer.
The family of Mr. Coker would like to extend a thank you to Hospice of South Texas, the Senior Caregivers and Tim Cappolino and Shea Williamson.
Memorial donations may be made to the New Beginnings Assembly of God in Port Lavaca or the Port Lavaca Main Street Theater.
