Eddie was born on May 12, 1923 in Rosenberg, Texas to the late Edward John Schneider and Ida (Moench) Schneider. In 1941 he was determined to enlist in the Air Force, at the age of 17. While assigned KP duty he learned of testing for the Air Force’s Pilot Program. So, to get out of KP, he took the tests to become a cadet in 1942 and served until his honorable discharge in 1945.
On a blind date arranged by a good friend, he met Barbara Novak, a union that lasted 63 years.
While working at DuPont, Eddie met Bob Johnson and the two became good friends ultimately partnering to form REXCO, Inc. a business that to this day is a successful employer in Port Lavaca and the rest is history.
Eddie is preceded in death by his parents, Edward J. Schneider and Ida (Moench) Schneider.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara N. Schneider; his son, Edward C. Schneider, Jr. (Evelyn); two daughters, Sherry King (David) and Cissy Sullivan (Dennis); two grandsons, Bryan C. Schneider and John E. Schneider (Desiree); a great grandson, Andrew C. Schneider; a great granddaughter, Everly Hope Schneider; and a sister, Irma O’Neal; along with many nieces and a nephew.
Visitation will be held Tues., Feb. 20, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church in Port Lavaca at 10:30 a.m. on Wed., Feb. 21, 2018.
