Eugene Sampson
June 14, 1927 – October 23, 2016
Eugene Sampson, 89, of Port Lavaca passed away October 23, 2016. He was born June 14, 1927 on a farm outside of Mattoon, IL to the late Virgil Lee and Wreatha Irene Guymon Sampson. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and Korea then retired from Alcoa after 33 years. Eugene was also a member of the VFW. He is survived by his son, Allan Sampson and wife, Josie; sister, Karen Sampson DeShazo; 2 grandchildren, A.J. Wagner and Joseph Sampson and 3 great-grandchildren, Hunter, Carter and Alex. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jane Cook Sampson; parents; sisters, Norma Dubler and Lucille Martin and brother, Harold Sampson. A time of visitation will be held Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 2016 at Greenlawn Gardens with military honors under the auspices of the Calhoun County Veterans Joint Honor Guard. Honorary Pallbearers are Joseph Sampson and Gilbert Pena Sr. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.richardsoncolonial.com.
