

James “J.B.” Franz, 86 of Port Lavaca passed into the loving arms of our Savior on January 23, 2011. He was born October 28, 1924 in Houston to the late James B Franz Sr. and Ada Hirsch Franz. He worked for Alcoa for over 30 years where he made many long term friends, served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of the Masonic Lodge #36. His hobbies included birding, fishing and traveling in his RV with his wife, Rosalie. He enjoyed his last year spent at Trinity Shores where he made many new friends and was reacquainted with many old friends from Alcoa.
He is survived by his daughter, Janet Dickinson and husband, John; granddaughter, Jordan Nicole and a brother, Al Franz and wife, Donna.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosalie Annette Taylor Franz; son, Mark Franz and his parents.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 25, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 10 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel with Dwayne Wise officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Gardens with the Lavaca Masonic Lodge #36 Agent Free and Accepted Masons.
Pallbearers are John Franck, Brian Franck, Steven Franz, John Shipman, Wade Richards and Rory Ballard.
Mr. Franz was known to be one of the sweetest, kindest and cheerful men that the nurses and care staff and Memorial Medical Center and Trinity Shores had known.
The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for him.
