

James Benny Risken, 44, of Calhoun County passed away May 30, 2010. He was born October 27, 1965 in Kingsville to William Merle Risken and Glenda Kay Barrington Specht. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Texas State Technical College and was a Special Education Teacher for Calhoun County ISD.
James had a big heart and his greatest joy and pride were his children, grandchild, and his passion for teaching his special kids at HJM Elementary in Port Lavaca, TX.
He is survived by his wife, Sabrina Williams Risken of Calhoun County; father, Bill Risken of Riviera; mother and step-father, Glenda Barrington Specht and Harlan Specht of Edna; daughter, Devin Miranda Risken and husband, Russell Briseno of Buda; sons, Anthony James Risken and fiancée, Tina Marshall of Port Lavaca, Andrew Merle Risken of League City; step-brother, Justin Specht of San Antonio; step-daughter, Ireland Williams and grandson, Evin Briseno.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Ida Barrington, Merle and Ruth Risken and uncles, Patrick and Harry Risken.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home in Port Lavaca. At James’ request his remains will be scattered on Risken Hill at Risken Ranch in Sarita, TX.
