

Joel D. Gonzalez,65, of Port Lavaca, passed away February 25, 2012. He was born August 17, 1946 to Edward Gonzalez and Consuelo “Gladys” Garcia. He retired from Alcoa after 32 years and was a school bus driver for CCISD and was a Process Server for Elite Processing Service. He was a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Alcoa 25 year club; life member of VFW Post 4403 and served as Past Post Commander, Past District Commander and was the Current Quartermaster; Knights of Columbus fourth degree member of assembly 1126; American Legion Post 0166; past Local Realtor Lifetime Committee member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo; past president for Calhoun County Fair Board and a past chairperson of the Calhoun County Area Go Texan and past Ambassador and past Director of Texas Association of Fairs and events.
Joel is survived by his daughter, Melissa Dworaczyk and fiancé, Brian Haney of Port Lavaca; son, Dave Aaron Gonzalez and wife Liz of Chowchilla, CA.; sister, Sylvia Macy of Houston; and 6 grandchildren, Steven Menchaca, Brittany Dworaczyk, Jordan Dworaczyk II, Dave A. Gonzalez II, Megan Gonzalez and Lauren Chavez; niece, Catherine Macy and grand-nephew, Darrell Macy.
He is preceded in death by parents and former wife, Odelia U. Gonzalez.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2012 from 3-5 p.m. and Wednesday, February 29, 2012 from 5-7 p.m., with a rosary beginning at 7 p.m. at Richardson Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, March 1, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church, Father Ty Bazar will be officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of the Calhoun County Veterans Joint Honor Guard.
Pallbearers are Dave Aaron Gonzalez, Steven Menchaca, Arnold Flores, Frank Cañas, Richard Parrish, Eloy Hernandez and Joe Hernandez.
Honorary Pallbearers are Brian Haney, Jordan Dworaczyk II, Darrell Macy, Dave A. Gonzalez II, Harry Frankson, David Denham, Honorable Judge James Duckett, Dave L Gonzales, Proud CHS Marching Band and the High Spirited Students of CCISD School Bus #55.
