A wonderful man was welcomed home in Glory on Thursday, March 6th, in the early evening. John E. Dumas was born in Izoro, TX on February 15, 1924 to John and Zelma (Fowler) Dumas. He married Virginia (Mobley) Dumas, his wife of 67 years on April 9, 1946 in Brownwood, TX.
He is survived by his wife, children, Duwayne Dumas (Tisha), Cathy Stapp (Paul), grandchildren, Chris Dumas (Jenny), Jason Dumas (Cari), Ashley Barecky (Aaron), Ross Stapp, and six great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his great granddaughter Alaina Barecky, parents, sisters, LaVern Byars and Cleda Lewis, and brothers Ed Dumas and Dalton Dumas.
He served with the 82nd Airborne in North Africa during WWII. He was a hard working business man for many years. He ran the Dumas Gulf Station, Dumas Texaco, and finally Dumas Used Cars and Drop It and Lock It Storage Units for 37 years. He served as a Deacon at the First Presbyterian Church of Port Lavaca.
