John Bruce Erwin, 88, of Port Lavaca passed away April 5, 2014. He was born August 22, 1925 in Marlin, TX to the late Wiley Harrison and Ruth Gertrude Bennett Erwin. He was retired from Alcoa where he worked as a Machine Shop Supervisor. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of VFW Post 4403. He was also a member of Victoria Chess Club, Progressive Bridge Club, Duplicate Bridge Club and was a world wide traveler.
He is survived by his daughter, Carol (Tony) Haschke of Port Lavaca; son, John Bruce Erwin Jr. (Karen) of Hempstead; grandchildren, Heath (Meagan) Marek of Conroe, April Clark of Helotes and Kelly (Robert) Grantland of Port Lavaca and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Virginia Sibley Erwin; parents and sister, Edna Mae Morris.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 7, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 10 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Trisha Tedrow officiating. Entombment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Victoria at 11:30 a.m. with military honors.
Pallbearers are T.J. Svetlik, Heath Marek, Robert Grantland, James Grantland, Kevin McKamey, Joe Haschke.
Honorary Pallbearers are the Staff at Trinity Shores.
