

Julien Albert Guilbeau, 89, of Port Lavaca passed away July 20, 2014. He was born December 13, 1924 in Houston, TX to the late Julien Joseph and Magdalene Virgie Samora Guilbeau. He was a retired Machinist from Alcoa and was a member of the Alcoa 25 year club. He was a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Sons of Hermann and Scout Master for Boy Scouts of America. Mr. Guilbeau served as Torpedoman 2nd Class in the US Navy during WWII. His unit received commendation from the Secretary of the Navy for extremely meritorious service in the rescue of survivors following the floundering of two United States Destroyers in the Western Pacific typhoon of December 18, 1944.
He is survived by his sons, Tracy Lee Guilbeau of Houston and Richard Allen Guilbeau of Round Rock; grandchildren, Christopher Allen Guilbeau and Melissa Nicole Garcia and great-grandchildren, Zachary and Bebel Garcia and Adelaide and Narrah Guilbeau.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Joyce Allen Guilbeau and parents.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 25, 2014 10-11:30 a.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home with a rosary to begin at 11:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2014 at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of the Calhoun County Veterans Joint Honor Guard.
