Leo J. Rokyta Sr.

Leo J. Rokyta, Sr., 86, of Port Lavaca passed away surrounded by his family on May 12, 2018. He was born on January 27, 1932 in Port Lavaca to Frank J. and Delfie Holly Rokyta. Leo was retired from Brown and Root as an electrician, was a member of Grace Community Church in Six Mile and of the VFW Post 4403. He is survived by his daughters, Shirley Rokyta Bauer, Gail Rokyta Kalisek, and Linda Hardcastle; grandchildren, Julie Noack and husband Bubba, Jennifer Welch and husband James, JR Bauer, Danielle Kalisek, Allen Kalisek, Tyler Gabbert and wife Kim, Megan Gabbert and Paige Zabransky; and great-grandchildren, Shayla Morgan, John and Blake Vorpahl, Kyra, Kylie and Korben Welch, Annalissaty Kalisek and Matthew and Dylan Gabbert. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Lillie Idella Rokyta; second wife, Audien W. “Deanie” Rokyta; son, L.J. Rokyta Jr.; daughter, Pam Gabbert; sisters, Ilene Matula and Elsie Lange; and brothers, Frank Rokyta and Emil Rokyta. Leo will lie in state on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Grace Community Church in Six Mile with Billy Faltesek officiating. Interment will follow in the Six Mile Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of the Calhoun County Veterans Joint Honor Guard. Pallbearers are JR Bauer, James Welch, Bubba Noack, Allen Kalisek, Jamey Bauer Sr, Wayne Rokyta, Tyler Gabbert and Franklin Rokyta. Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Dr. Larry Riedel, Dr. Dakesh-Kumar Parikh, Crown Hospice, Nicole Stiles, Ronnie Hamrick and Dr. Yasir Ahmed for the love and care they gave to Leo. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association, American Heart Association or AIDS Foundation.
