Leo G Wilborn

Leo G. Wilborn age 90, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, passed away May 6, 2014, while at rest in his home in Port Lavaca surrounded by loving family at his side. God took his hand and led him away to his new heavenly home.

He was born July 16, 1923 in Port Lavaca to the late Everett W. and Leona Fellers Wilborn. Leo was a retired operations supervisor for ALCOA and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Port Lavaca. He proudly served his Country during WWII as a Staff Sergeant in the Army and was a member of the VFW Post 4403. Leo received the Silver Star for bravery and the Combat Medical Badge for action in the Philippines where he served proudly with the 103rd Infantry.

Leo loved to spend time in the outdoors with family and friends and never missed a chance to go hunting or fishing if he could. Life long memories forever etched in our hearts will always be there from sharing our time with Leo, Dad, and “Beba”!

Leo is survived by his loving wife, Patsy Bland Wilborn; daughter, Candy Wallgren and husband Chuck of San Antonio; sons, Rick Wilborn and wife Marcy of San Antonio and Larry Wilborn and wife Sharon of Port Lavaca; sisters, Peggy Wilborn and Inona “Sister” Buren; brothers, Briggs Wilborn, Rudy Wilborn and Tommy Wilborn. Mr. Wilborn, or “Beba” as he was affectionately called by his grandchildren is survived by 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents Leo was preceded in death by his sister, Joy E. Graham and his brother, E.W. “Buddy” Wilborn.

A time of visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, May 16, 2014 at the Richardson Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church of Port Lavaca with the Pastor Mark Porterfield officiating. Burial with full military honors under the auspices of the Calhoun County Joint Military Honor Guard will follow at the Port Lavaca Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Cory Wilborn, Darren Blank, Greg Blank, Jason Wallgren, Brent Wallgren, and Dylan Boyd.

If so desired memorial donations may be made to the Port Lavaca VFW Post 4403 or the National Parkinson’s Association.
