Lorena Tinney Haskin

Born Dec., 23, 1921 in Wellington, TX, Lorena was the second of three children born to Isaac J. and Cleo Tinney. Lorena attended school in Wellington until 8th grade and then her family moved to Ryan, OK where she graduated from High School. Following High School, Lorena attended and completed Business School in Oklahoma City. On October 7, 1940 she moved to Port Lavaca to take a job at General Seafoods. On January 23, 1946 she married Perry Haskin, Jr.

Lorena worked in the tax office for Calhoun ISD for 25 years before retiring in 1987. Following retirement she worked part-time 10 years for tax attorneys for the school district. Lorena was well known and respected in the community. She was an active member of the Port Lavaca Church of Christ and touched many lives as a bible class teacher.

Lorena is survived by her son Michael (Judy) Haskin of Georgetown and two grandchildren Michelle Haskin and Joe Walker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry; daughter, Darla Walker; grandson, Ryan Walker; and two brothers Willard and R.J. Tinney.

Visitation will be at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home in Port Lavaca on Monday, March 7th, 6:00 to 7:00pm. The funeral service will be Tuesday, March 8th, 10:00am at the Port Lavaca Church of Christ. Burial will follow at the Olivia Cemetery.

The family gives special thanks to the caregivers at Tiffin House of Georgetown and Resolutions Hospice of Austin for their love and compassion for Lorena. The family requests memorials be sent to your favorite charity.
