Mildred L. Matson

She was born November 5, 1921 to Joseph S. Neill and Vera L. Miller in Calhoun County.

She was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker. She loved to cook, garden, fish, travel, and spend time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church.

She is survived by daughters, Brenda Peterson (Lummie) of Victoria and Phoebe Shrimpton (David) of Indiana; sons, Stanley Matson, Jr. (Mary Ann), Joseph Matson, James Michael Matson, of Port Lavaca.

She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

In addition, she is survived by sister Mary Willoughby (Charles) of Port Lavaca; brothers Willett Neill and Howard Neill (Lorene) of Port Lavaca.

She was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband, Stanley M. Matson, of 51 years; two sisters, Emma Jo Warren and Elsie Linne; and one grandchild, Scott Matson.

Visitation services will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2016 from 5-7pm at Richardson Colonial Funeral Home in Port Lavaca.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 2pm at Salem Lutheran Church of Port Lavaca with Pastor Dan Zellmer officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Wade Klare, Paul Chrisco, Peter Chrisco, Patrick Chrisco, Bo Matson, Joshua Matson, and Quirt McCoy.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of South Texas.
