Robert Milton Howe was born to Harry M. and Audrey Fuller Howe on April 25, 1923 in San Antonio, Texas. He passed away on Friday, September 15, 2017. He married Marie Young on May 9, 1942 in San Francisco, California. They had two sons, Robert M. Howe, Jr. and Thomas W. Howe. Robert was devoted to his wife, sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren. After graduating from Brackenridge High School, Robert enlisted in the U.S. Navy on December 8, 1941. He served aboard the USS Helena as a gunner’s mate until she was torpedoed and sunk in The Battle of Kula Gulf in 1943. He later studied at San Antonio College and pursued a degree in Industrial Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. Robert worked at the Department of the Air Force Electronic Security Command at Kelly AFB in San Antonio for 30 years. In 2003, he made Magnolia Beach his permanent home.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and Marie, his wife of 58 years.
He is survived by sons, Robert and his wife Beverly and Thomas and his wife Donna; grandchildren, Dawn Taylor (Nathan Telck), Michelle Larscheid (Joe Larscheid), Sarah Howe (Gary Fletcher) and Thomas W. Howe, Jr. (Ed Dodd); great-grandchildren, Mason Manimtim, Zach Larscheid, Presley Fletcher and Dylan Fletcher.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 pm to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Porter Loring Mortuary North. Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Porter Loring Mortuary North, San Antonio, Texas, Reverend Joe Walts officiating.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home, 123 Newlin St., Port Lavaca, Texas 77979, Reverend Carl Westbrook officiating.
