Ronald David Squyres went home to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ January 8, 2019. "He ran the race and kept the faith." He was a member of First Baptist Church in Port Lavaca. He was born September 10, 1935 in Port Lavaca, Texas.
He leaves behind his loving and caring wife Phyllis. They enjoyed 38 beautiful years of marriage together. He was "The Love of Her Life." He also leaves behind two daughters: Stephanie Thomas and husband Wayne of College Station, Texas. Bonjie Wernecke and Clarence (deceased) of Houston, Texas. Three Step-Sons: Richard Payne and wife Denise of Kingfisher, Oklahoma. Dwayne Payne and wife Sandy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Stanley Payne who was tragically called home in 2015 and his wife Jeanne of Victoria, Texas.
Ronnie was a hard-working, dedicated employee of Alcoa for 30 years, Wilson Land & Cattle Co. for 10 years and Port Lavaca Car Association for 12 years. When not traveling with his wife he enjoyed being at home and having fellowship with friends over coffee at What-A-Burger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Zibe Sqyures and Rosie Caroline Kuchler Squyres. Sisters: Freda Jones, Bea Harrell, Artie Wilson Garrett, Ima Bryant, Uvalene Squyres. Brothers: Robert Squyres, Leland Squyres and Jimmy Wayne Sqyures. 11 Grandchildren, 14 Great-Grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 10AM - 11AM on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at the First Baptist Church in Port Lavaca with the funeral service at 11AM with Pastor Brother Anthony (Casey) Dubose officiating with Virgil Martin giving the eulogy. The burial will take place at 2PM later that day at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Victoria, Texas.

This was the best Step Father a child could have he was so caring and compassionate for 38 years. He will be missed very much by my family. We love you and miss you.

I remember all the times he’d come out to visit my grandparents. They’d sit and visit over a cup of coffee and a piece of cake. He was soft spoken, kind, and gentle. That is the memory of him that I will carry with me until I see him again.
