Shirley Ann (Strain) Ohlinger, 78, of the Six Mile Community in Port Lavaca, Texas, went to be with her Heavenly Father on April 22, 2019 after a brief battle with cancer. Shirley was born on October 19, 1940 in Port O'Connor, Texas to William Allen and Eunice Mae Shippy Strain. Shirley graduated High School from Calhoun High School and attended Corpus Christi College for a brief time before marrying the lover of her life, Ronald A. Ohlinger on April 20, 1962. She then proceeded to travel the world with her husband and 2 children for the next 20 years of his Navy career which took them to California, Washington State, Alaska, Japan, Virginia, Guam, Missouri, and finally settling in Port Lavaca, Texas where Shirley worked for Dr. Mau Shong Lin for 20 years.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 56 years Ronald A. Ohlinger; 2 children Shelly Ann (Ohlinger) Jones and husband Samuel of Cuero, Texas and Michael Dean Ohlinger of Austin, Texas; grandchildren Marshall G. Jennings (Samantha), Heather N. Black (Nathan), Madeleine R. Ohlinger and Marissa S. Ohlinger; great-grandchildren Karlee G. Black and Caroline R. Jennings; brother, Bobby (Marsha) Strain; sisters, Violet (Fred) Poncik, Jeanette (Tom) Gay, Linda (Craig) Strokos, and Gloria (Jim) Mills.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents and brother Billy Strain.
A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in Shirley's name to Hospice of South Texas in Victoria, Texas.
