

On September 29th, 1948 Aharon was born in Tel Aviv, Israel to his loving parents Seymour and Rifka Onia. Aharon and his family came to Sunnyside Queens, New York when he was 13. Due to several cultural and language differences, Aharon’s name was frequently spelled a number of ways throughout his lifetime– Aharon Onje, Aaron Onia, and Aaron Onje. Aharon enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 17, serving during the Vietnam conflict. He was awarded a National Defense service medal, Vietnam service medal, two bronze stars, and a Good Conduct Medal. He was an expert sharpshooter and marksman, and was awarded a Purple Heart which he received while he was in Vietnam.
Aharon is survived by his wife, whom he referred to as “Doll”, Tricia Franco Onje; two daughters, Debbie and Cindi Onia and grandchildren residing in South Africa; two step-children, Luke and Ann Franco; daughter-in-law Stacy and granddaughter Kristin Mia. Aharon is also survived by his brother Igal and his wife Lisa/ Queenie; two nephews, Adam and Josh Onia; and several great nephews and nieces. Aharon also leaves behind three sisters-in- law Gracie, Peggy and Nancy and a brother-in-law Tommy.
