

Alice M. Lubke, 93, a longtime Daytona Beach area resident peacefully passed away at Little River Manor ALF on July 17, 2012. She was born October 6, 1918 in Bayonne, New Jersey. Alice worked as a secretary for Redbook Magazine in NYC before marrying her husband, George, a soldier in the Army. She worked for a German bank in downtown Atlanta in the mid 70's as a secretary until moving back home to Daytona area with her husband George W Lubke, Jr during WWII; both worked at Welsh Convalescent Hospital (Halifax Hospital). Alice was a longtime Alter Guild member at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Daytona Beach. She spent many years as a volunteer transcribing books for the Brail Society, was an accomplished piano player who entertained countless people and even played for the entertainment of others the night before her passing. Alice found the good in everyone she met and never saw anything negative through her rose colored glasses. She was a sweet, kind hearted wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend and will be dearly missed by all. Family was most important to Alice and per her wishes the family will gather privately to celebrate her life. She was predeceased by: Her loving husband, George W Lubke, Jr. and longtime friend, Bill Reese. Left to cherish her memory son, George "Bill" Lubke, III & his wife, Julie, Port Orange, FL.; daughter, Robin Welter & her husband Ronnie, New Smyrna Beach, FL. ; sister, Naomi Morris & her husband, Ernie and family; grandchildren: Tim Welter, Jeremy Welter & his wife, Bobbie Jo, Victoria Magruder & her husband, Bobby of Daytona Beach area, Fl & Tammy Myers & husband, Sean of Asheboro, NC; Lucy Clark & her husband, Tom; Jacqie Stewart; Betty Bernard of Daytona Beach area. Great Grandchildren: Melissa Asselin & her husband, Lee; Nicole Bernard, FL; Jessica Hunter-Dawley & her husband, Kenny, NC; Erica Hunter, NC; A1C Timothy Corey Welter, ND; Taylor Schiess, NC; Jeremy Welter, II; Basia Welter; Michael Merritt; Maghan Magruder; Zachary Magruder; Joseph Clark; Daytona Beach area.
