Since his father emigrated from Italy at the age of 14, the family only spoke Italian in the home. Anthony learned to speak English when he went to school.
Tony, as he was later called, served in World War II as an Army Staff Sergeant. He was stationed in Burma, China and India for five years.
He married for the first time in June 1947 to Florence Testa. They had two children, Florence and Stephen. His beloved son passed at the young age of 13. Tony and Florence were married for 27 years. His wife, Florence, died in 1974 after a long illness. Tony was a faithful, caring husband during that time. He was also a loving father to Florence and Stephen.
Tony married for the second time on September 14, 1975, to Sylvia. They were married for 43 years. Sylvia describes him “one of a kind, everyone loved him.” They had a loving relationship and complemented each other in every way.
He is survived by his wife (Sylvia), daughter (Florence), and son-in-law (John), as well as his grandchildren – Christine and Stephen, and their spouses, Angelo and Karen. He was also a beloved great-grandfather to Veda, John, Harry and Ryan.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
