

Betty Swanson Lucas, 79, of Ponce Inlet, passed away April 2, 2014 at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. Betty was born in Glen Cove, N.Y., and has lived many places including Charleston, SC, Cayman Islands, Los Angles, CA, and most recently a resident of Ponce Inlet since 1995. She attended Epiphany Catholic Church and had many interests including golf, going to casinos, cruising, scuba diving, boating, and flying, but most of all Betty loved to travel. She also enjoyed spending time at the Ponce Inlet Jetty Park. Betty will be remembered for her wittiness and awesome sense of humor. She was a PADI certified scuba diver, a licensed nurse, a long time member of the Goldfarb Traveling Golf League, The Cypress Head Ladies Golf Association, numerous yacht clubs and the Red Hat Society. Left to cherish her memory are her children; Chip (Beverly) Lucas, Victor Jr (Betsy) Lucas, Pam Lucas (Larry Stair), Blaise (Wyman) Ard, and Vicky Lucas; sister, Mary Dawson; Grandchildren: Joni, Robin, Josh, Betsy, Neal, Victor, Nick, Mandy, and Tyler, 8 great-grandchildren and extended family, Will and John Stonaker . She was predeceased by her husband, Victor and brothers: Ted and Art Swanson. Funeral service will be held 3:30 p.m. Monday April 7, 2014 at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd. Burial will be Tuesday in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
