Brusenilda Garcia, 81, matriarch and grounding foundation of her family, was reunited with her beloved late husband, Hector, the evening of December 31, 2021. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on February 29, 1940, Brusenilda was the baby of five children born to Reinaldo Pereira and Brucelinda Seda, immigrating to the United States with her family at the age of 4. Raised also in part by her paternal aunt, Brusenilda grew up in Passaic County, New Jersey where she met her husband, Hector Garcia, who she married on September 9, 1955. Together they raised their 3 children in Paterson, New Jersey. For a short period of time, Brusenilda was a licensed beautician prior to becoming a certified nursing assistant (CNA), working specifically with the elderly – a population near to her heart. After Hector’s retirement from the textile industry in 1992, they returned home to Puerto Rico for a short time to take care of his ailing mother, returning to the United States after her passing in 1995. Upon their return, they made their new home in Deltona, Florida.
Brusenilda, better known as Linda, enjoyed many things – ceramics, working around the house and yard, cooking, painting, baking, flea markets – but perhaps nothing more than time spent with her family. Whether swimming as a young girl or gathering for family dinners and BBQ’s, Linda adored her family and their gatherings. She is survived by her three children: Hector Ramon Garcia, Philip Anthony Garcia and Melisa Lyn Garcia; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and furbaby: Papito. She is also survived by her sister, Brunilda Pereira-Diaz, sister-in-law Milagros Rivera, and brother-in-law German Garcia. Linda was greeted in Heaven by her cherished husband of 65 years Hector, brothers Reinaldo and Charles Pereira, sister-in-law Aida Medina, and other family members and friends.
A Memorial Service honoring Linda’s life will be held February 6, 2022 at Iglesia Cristiana Renacer, 3045 Mallard Drive, Deltona, Florida 32738 from 2pm - 4pm.
