

Carla Ann Stones Cribbs, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and dear friend departed this life peacefully on January 7, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, resiliency, and grace. Born on June 24, 1938, with a heart full of compassion, and a spirit and radiant smile that touched everyone she met. Carla lived a life marked by kindness. strength, and unwavering devotion to her family, friends, and community. Her warmth and wisdom were a guiding light to those that knew her and her sweet, giving spirit brought joy to everyone she touched. Fondly called Mimi and Grandma Carla by her grandchildren, she was known for her generosity, her strong, unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, and her ability to make each person feel seen and heard. Whether through her thoughtful words, her nurturing presence, or her selfless giving, she made the world a better, brighter, more hopeful place. Carla was an exceptional cook, loved reading, bridge, and gardening, and was a passionate football fan; Most of all, she simply loved life and desired to make those around her feel comfortable and taken care of.
Carla attended Peabody College while working at First Baptist, Nashville. She was a full time mother and homemaker with clerical positions for an attorney in Jacksonville, Florida and later for a surgeon in Live Oak, Florida. She also served as the pastor's secretary for First Baptist Church in New Smyrna, Florida and Rockdale Baptist in Conyers, Georgia. She is survived by her beloved husband John Cribbs, her four children - Michael Fred Stones (Marilou), Susan Elizabeth Stones Stone (Andy), Stephen Edward Stones, and Deborah Kay Stones Hines (Wirt), John’s two sons Steve Cribbs and David Cribbs, 7 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. She is predeceased in death by two grandchildren.
A celebration of Carla's life will be held on February 8th, 2026 at 2pm at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home in Port Orange, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial contributions be given to The Salvation Army or The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews.
