

Catherine (Kay) Zidanic Cencerik of Port Orange passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at the age of 96 surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 18, 5 pm-8 pm, at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home in Port Orange.
Born on January 15, 1927, in Rankin, PA, she was the daughter of the late Max Zidanic and Mary Matesic Zidanic. She moved to Florida in 1979 where she worked as “shampoo girl” for over 30 years at her daughter’s salon until Covid closed the doors and forced her to retire at the young age of 93. Wednesday night Bingo at the Port Orange Elks was her favorite day of the week. She was an avid traveler and loved to cruise with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Cencerik; beloved son, John R. Cencerik; daughter-in-law, Kathy Cencerik; son-in-law, LG Davis; brothers, Frank Zidanic and Michael Zidanic; sister, Francis Hosper.
Those left to cherish her memory are sons David Cencerik of Port Orange and George (Sandy) Cencerik of Port Orange, FL; daughter Marilyn Davis of Port Orange; grandchildren John D. Cencerik of Daytona Beach, Kimberly (Bill) Comer of Hobe Sound, Shannon (Scott) Stevens of Norman Park, GA, Heather Cencerik of Dade City, Cassie (Jason) Chasse of Deland, and Kyle (Alycia) Cencerik of Elizabeth City, NC; Great grandchildren Hannah Stevens of Norman Park, GA, John A. Cencerik of Philadelphia, PA, Max Cencerik of Ormond Beach, Bryce Cencerik of Dade City, Billy Comer of Hobe Sound, and Carson Cencerik of Elizabeth City, NC; sister-in-law Marge Zidanic of Pittsburgh, PA; her cherished dog, Maggie; and several nieces and nephews.
The family extends a very sincere thank you to the staff of Halifax Health Hospice for the professionalism and care they provided during her last days.
