June, 6 1959 to April 2, 2019. Daniel Cardin, age 59 of Daytona Beach, a Project Manager in the Construction Industry went home to be with the Lord sooner than our hearts were prepared for after a valiant battle against cancer. Born in Belchertown, MA, to Edward and Rose (Besner) Cardin; Dan spent most of his life in and around Ludlow, MA, prior to moving to Florida.

Dan was predeceased by his parents and son, Michael Cardin. Dan is survived by his loving wife, Caren and the children of his heart, L. Joseph (Joy) Ferrara, III; Jacob (Sara) Koehn and Chelsey Koehn; beloved grandchildren, Elijha, Isabella, Gabriella and “bun in the oven”; sister, Linda Cardin and bonus sister, Gail DiPinto; niece, Dee (Stewart) Belet and their family, Alicia, Christina, Brittany, Emily and Robbie and 10 grandchildren; nephew, John Katsograsakis and family, his brother Leonard Cardin and family, his brothers and sisters in law, parents in law, multiple nieces and nephews and his loving pets, Sammey and Ryley.

Dan was a true family man full of life and love. He had an exceptional wit and was “freakin’ funny” just ask him. He loved to teach his family the tools of his trade and had the patience to explain the way things worked. He believed in the adage “If you give a man a fish, he will eat for a day, but teach a man to fish and he will eat forever”. He wanted the “kids” to be able to have the skills he taught them to use throughout life. He loved adventure & travel, but also appreciated his quiet time at home with his wife and pets. Family Bonding Time is our family motto and those cherished memories will sustain those he left behind. A memorial service for Daniel will be held Monday, April 8, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Port Orange Presbyterian Church, 4662 Clyde Morris Blvd, Port Orange, FL.

In lieu of flowers the family request donation to be made in Dan’s honor to the Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital, MUSC Children’s Hospital Fund, 59 Bee Street MSC 201, Charleston, South Carolina 29425 US, https://connect2.musc.edu/giving.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.VolusiaMemorialFuneral.com for the Cardin family.

Dan was on my pool team for many years. He was a great pool player and so fun to have on the team. He and I laughed a lot on those nights that we played. We became friends.
We attended his wedding on the beach which was beautiful if not a little chilly. Soon after his marriage we lost touch as he stopped playing pool and focused on his new family. And from what I understand he was an awesome stepfather and husband. And then grandfather!
When my sweetie Pete passed away six months ago Dan sent me his condolences. He didn't let on at all that he was sick. That's a tribute to his character. It was only in the last couple of months when I contacted him, that he told me. He was so positive. I really didn't think it was going to be such a short time till we all lost him.
In all honesty he was my favorite person that was ever on any of my pool teams. He just made it so fun! And there have been a few teams!
I know for sure that he will be sorely missed , especially by his family. My most sincere sympathy and condolences to you, Caren and children and grandchildren, who meant so much to him. May his memory be a blessing.

You never know the impact someone has on your life until you have to live without them. Or, how precious life is until it’s taken away from you. I am so blessed to have had such an incredible male influence in my life from day 1. You added such a flare to our family with your wit and sarcasm. Thankful you are in your eternal resting place no longer suffering. Forever will you be missed.

I love you Uncle Danny

What can someone say about a person who had such an impact on your life. Dan was my Uncle, Godfather, Brother, and the one constant male figure who I could turn to and rely on. He was more than a title, he was a man with great wit and sarcasm. He was a honest and true person. The type of man who would give the shirt off his back and never ask for anything in return. Dan and I lived together for a time when he first arrived in Florida. We had a great bonding experience that I will never forget. He helped me as I helped him. My girls were provided with an exceptional male role model. You may not be here, however, you will forever be in our hearts and watching over us! I love you more than words could ever express. Your wings were ready, however, our hearts were not! You were taken from family but I know that God has a plan for each of us! I know you are no longer in pain and have received peace and comfort. I know you are now safe and comfortable on this journey we call Life, I will see you one day. In the meantime, continue to laugh and smile and look down upon all of us and give that extra "nudge" to everyone to continue to make the right choices in life. You were very blessed to have met and fell in love with Caren and acquired the best bonus family; who are now all of our family. We love you! I LOVE YOU AND WILL FOREVER MISS YOU!
