

E. Allan Logel, 100 years old, a resident of Sea Girt, New Jersey and Port Orange, Florida formerly of Maplewood and Upper Montclair, New Jersey died on February 4, 2021. He attended the University of North Carolina until called to serve his country during WWII. He rose to the rank of Captain in the US Army spending the majority of his service specializing in strategic planning in the Pacific Theater. After the war he completed his studies and graduated from Rutgers University. He was a Vice President and Deputy Controller of Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company retiring in January 1985.
Mr. Logel was active in the Boy Scouts and served on the Boy Scout Council. He was also a member of The American Legion. He was a CYO basketball coach, served as an usher and member of the Holy Name Society of St. Cassian Church, Upper Montclair, NJ and St. Mark’s Church, Sea Girt, NJ. He was an avid boater and golfer and golfed until he was 98 years old.
He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Margaretta Ward Logel, and his sister, Adele Desch of Brick, NJ. He is survived by his four children, Mary L. Wheeler (Peter), Long Branch, NJ, Edward A. Logel Jr, Winter Garden, FL, Virginia L. Kelly (John), Sea Girt, NJ and Port Orange, FL, and Margaretta A. Pignataro (Robert), Stuart, FL and Rumson, NJ, eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
A private Mass at Church of the Epiphany, Port Orange, FL will be held on February 11, 2021. A Mass of Celebration will be held at St Mark’s Church, Sea Girt, NJ at a date TBD, with burial at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Wall, NJ.
