Edward was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 30, 1927, to Andrej and Stefania Czekaj. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, whom he married on August 24, 1957; children: Barbara and her husband, Michael, Argun, Edward, Mary, Regina and her husband, Jim, Callahan; two grandchildren, James and Quinlan Callahan, and his sister, Stefi Karpinski.
Edward proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the American Legion and VFW.
Edward retired from his career at AT&T Bell Laboratories where he worked on the undersea fiber optic cable between the US and Europe.
Edward enjoyed polkas, cooking, fishing, bowling, and was an avid Mets fan. In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to please consider donating in Edward’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org.
Services will be held this week at Shannon Maloney Funeral Home in Port Orange, FL. Edward will be buried at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.
