Ethan Jared Halverson, age 19, Port Orange, Florida, formerly of Esko, Minnesota left us far too soon on April 2, 2016, died in Daytona Beach, Florida. He was born on December 10, 1996, in Duluth, Minnesota to Arlene Hammarlund and Kevin Halverson. A freshman Electrical Engineering student at UCF, he graduated from Spruce Creek High School in Port Orange in May of 2015. Ethan, his twin brother Isaac and their mother, Arlene Hammarlund, moved to Port Orange in 2012. Familiar to the area due to the decades-long snow-birding of his grandparents, Ken & Joyce Hammarlund, Ethan was very much at home in Central Florida, as well. As a result, Ethan had more passions and activities in his life than most of us. Snowboarding up north, paddle-boarding in Florida. Hunting, fishing, kayaking from the family’s island cabin on Lake Saganaga, jet-skiing the Ponce Inlet jetty, a very active and adventurous spirit was a hallmark of Ethan’s life. Northern Minnesota also meant spending many weekends and his grandparents home on beautiful Sand Lake, near Moose Lake, Minnesota. Hours of tubing and waterskiing, grilling and wringing every ounce of performance from Grandpa Hammarlund’s golf carts. Everywhere Ethan went, you could expect great food. An accomplished an innovative producer of great pizzas, he would often be called upon to be the chef on a Friday night. His repertoire was not limited to pizza, but it was his trademark.Ethan is survived by his mother Arlene Hammarlund of Port Orange FL, father Kevin Halverson of Janesville, WI, twin brother Isaac Halverson of Port Orange FL, brother Luke Halverson of Melbourne, FL, brother Noah Halverson and sister-in-law Keri Halverson of Esko, MN, maternal grandparents Ken and Joyce Hammarlund of Moose Lake, MN and Port Orange, FL and paternal grandparents Ted and Marguerite Halverson of Janesville, WI, uncle Mark Halverson of Highland, IN, Ken Hammarlund of Esko, MN, cousin Andrea Halverson of Knoxville, Tennessee and stepfather Keith Lennartson of Duluth, MN.Being a twin is a very special bond. Isaac, is Ethan’s twin brother and closest friend. He has something to say: “Ethan took steep steps throughout life with no hesitation. Ethan made a science of making anyone and everyone laugh with abandon. He ambitiously stated… “I’m getting my Masters, a Rolls Royce, and buying my whole family the car of their choice!” “Now that that bond has been taken from me, I’ll have to get that Lamborghini on my own, in his memory.”Please join us in celebrating Ethan’s abundant life." There will be a Memorial Service in Esko, Minnesota at St. Matthews, Lutheran Church, 4 Elizabeth Avenue, on April 23, 2016 at 11:00 A.M.
