

Eugene passed peacefully on 4/28/2025, in Holly Hill, Florida, where he lived with his Daughter Shawna Sherwood and her husband James Jordan Jr. for the last several months.
Born in Gardiner, Maine, 8/15/1941, and he grew up in Yarmouth, Maine. He joined the Army in 1960 and served until 1964. After his time in the military, he joined the Maine Ironworkers Union Apprenticeship program earning his Journeyman Iron Workers certifications from The International Association of Bridge, Structural and Ornamental Iron Workers by the Federal Committee on Apprenticeship on 5/27/1967.
His work was his passion, and he traveled and worked all over the country constructing bridges, nuclear power plants, skyscrapers and other buildings, including the construction of a military base in Antarctica, South Pole. He was an old school, proud journeyman trained in every aspect of iron work, there wasn’t anything he didn’t know or couldn’t do, he was a true artist of his trade with over 45 years dedicated to his profession and the Iron Workers Union. He studied and worked to obtain his GED and successfully obtained his GED on 4/1/1987, something he was very proud of.
He was predeceased by his parents, Clive N. Sherwood, and Ruth (Rensby) Sherwood; 5 brothers, 1 sister and his second wife Jelica (Ratknic) Sherwood. He is survived by his three children, daughter Stacey (Sherwood) Lowe his son-in-law, Leo Lowe, daughter Shawna Sherwood (Jordan) and his son-in-law, James Jordan Jr., his son, Cory Sherwood and is daughter- in- law, Laura (Chancey) Sherwood, 1 sister, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
