
Gary Luther Darby, 76, of Port Orange, Florida, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 5, 2026. His faith in God was the foundation of his life, and he lived each day with love, integrity, and devotion to his family.
Gary was born in Columbia, South Carolina, to Gary C. Darby and Pearl L. Darby. He graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1971 and went on to dedicate 45 years of faithful service to the Kmart Corporation and Sears, where he built a career marked by hard work, commitment, and loyalty.
Above all else, Gary loved the Lord. His relationship with God was the center of his life and guided every decision he made. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love touched everyone who knew him.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Gary C. and Pearl L. Darby, and his beloved daughter, Lisa Reynolds.
He leaves behind his loving wife and soulmate of 52 years, Carla Darby; his children, Gary Darby Jr., Rebecca Darby, Kimberly Darby, and Kevin Reynolds; and his cherished grandchildren, Dakota (Maria), Christian (Hailey), Michael (Victoria), Branden (Veronica), Kaylee (Ben), Jesse Makayla. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Audrey, Austin, Erin, Anastasia, and Oliver, all of whom brought him immeasurable joy.
Gary will be remembered for his steadfast faith, his deep love for his family, his strong work ethic, and the example he set through a life of service, humility, and grace. Though he will be deeply missed, his family rejoices in the promise that he is now at peace in the presence of his Savior.
