

Mr. Brumbaugh was born May 31, 1921 in Ambler, PA and relocated to this area in 1987 from Whittier, CA. He served as First Lieutenant in the Army Air Corp, 95th Bomb Group. Based in England he piloted several successful B-17 Flying Fortress missions, during WWII. Piloting his second combat mission his B-17 was shot and although it was severely damaged he was able to get his plane back on the ground and all his crew survived.
His professional memberships included: The American Society for Testing and Materials, the Federation of Societies for Paint Technology, The American Society of Professional Engineers and The American Ordnance Association.
He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Halifax Council 12569, Port Orange, Archbishop Michael J Curley Assembly 0165, Holly Hill, VFW Post 3282, Port Orange and an active member of Epiphany Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary C. Brumbaugh; daughters, Janet M, Welshans-Thomas (John), Port Orange; Kathleen L. Stephenson (Ronald), Clifton, VA; sons, George E. Brumbaugh, Jr. (Kathleen), Clinton TWP, MI and Ronald Brumbaugh (Judith), Orlando; sister, Rita Hames, Ambler, PA, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd, Port Orange. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Epiphany Catholic Church 201 Lafayette St. Port Orange.
