
Gene was a World War II veteran and past President of the Grove City High School booster club, member of the American Legion Grove City Post, Moose Club, Elks Club Sherman Lodge #470 Harrisburg, OH as well as a past member of the Grove City Lions Club.
Gene was a glass cutter for Pittsburg Plate Glass, an auditor for the Kroger Company and for S.M. Flickenger. He and his wife Laura owned and operated Gene’s Sandwich Bar and the Broadway Restaurant in Grove City, OH. He was the Resident Manager of the Neil House Motor Hotel and manager of the Olentargry Inn, both in Columbus, OH. In Florida Gene was the Manager of Remuda Ranch for G.M. Properties and General Manager of the Golden Gate Inn and Country Club, Golden Gate, FL and cut the ribbon to open the Golden Gate Pkwy between Golden Gate and Naples. Gene also managed the Grove City Golf And Country Club and along with wife Laura the Grove City Elks lodge. Mr. Edgington retired from the Franklin County Municipal Court Clerk’s Office as a Supervisor of the Criminal- Traffic Division and from South- Western City Schools Recreation Dept.
Gene was predeceased by his parents Dolph and Catherine (Harley) Edgington, brothers Robert and Earl and his loving wife of 56 years Laurabel (Creamer). Survivors include, Son John E. (Jack) Edgington (Katy), Daughter Regina (Jeanne),(Jim Sloan)., 10 Grandchildren, 14 Great-Grandchildren, 2 Great-Great Grandchildren also Brother-in Law Robert D. Creamer, Nieces, Nephews and many friends.
