

She was born on July 25th, 1943 in Wilmot, New Hampshire, the daughter of the late Merrill and Emely Kilburn.
In addition to her parents, Jan was preceded in death by her son Brent Chase, sister-in-law Sheila Chase, father-in-law Walter H. Chase, and mother-in-law Rita Chase
Jan is survived by her loving husband of 63 years and high school sweetheart Walter P. Chase. She is also survived by her daughter Michelle Millette and fiancé Bob Foringer, granddaughter Alison Millette and fiancé Austin Kemprowski, her brother Jim Kilburn and his wife Gerri Kilburn, her sister Judy Kilburn and husband Tom Parise, and her brother Jon Kilburn and his wife Sue Kilburn.
Jan’s life radiated grace, beauty, and love, touching the hearts of all who knew her. Her caring spirit led her to hospice nursing, where she found profound purpose comforting patients and their families. She also spent many successful years in the electronics industry, bringing warmth and dedication to all she did.
Her days were made brighter by the joy and unconditional love of her dogs and cats, a cherished bond that enriched her life. In retirement, she gave freely of herself, tending to the goats at the Carl Sandburg home and offering hospice pet therapy in North Carolina and Florida - tender reflections of her lifelong devotion to animals and to helping others.
Jan lived a life full of adventure and joy, delighting in entertaining, traveling, canine freestyle performances, gardening, scrapbooking, photography, and long walks with her beloved dogs. She possessed a fun-loving spirit and brought so much joy to so many! Her love of laughter, her sense of humor, and her contagious smile were central to who she was.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Marta and Erika Estrada, whose devoted and compassionate care for Jan will always be deeply appreciated. They also wish to recognize Becky White, whom Jan lovingly referred to as her adoptive daughter.
The family is sincerely thankful for the many expressions of love and kindness shown to them during this time of bereavement.
A Celebration of Janet's Life will be held on Saturday, January 24th starting at 2pm until 4pm at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home - Port Orange. A time of memory sharing and a service will begin at 2:30pm.
