It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jeffery Scott Schimp, aged 57, who peacefully left us on March 10, 2025. A loving son, husband, brother, father, and friend, Jeff is remembered for his unwavering devotion and selflessness, especially in the care and support he gave to his beloved wife, Erin.
Jeff was born December 27, 1967, in Daytona Beach, Florida, and was the son of Jim and Laura (Cameron) Schimp. He married the love of his life, Erin, in 1992, and together they shared a life filled with love and joy. Together they volunteered countless hours supporting their daughter, Morgan, and the Daytona Beach Speed swim team at swim meets and fundraisers. When Erin faced health challenges, Jeff became her caregiver, demonstrating extraordinary loyalty, compassion, and strength. His devotion was a testament to the depth of their bond and his unshakeable commitment to her. In addition to his devotion to his wife, he was quick to share with others his love and pride in Morgan, cheering her on through law school, marriage and the beginning of a successful career and life with her husband (often referred to by him as his son), Kaleb.
He was a life-long NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt fan. As a kid, he spent time building and repairing cars that he, his Dad and brothers drove during Bradford Speedway races. A true motorsports enthusiast, he cherished every moment spent at the track, sharing his love of racing with friends and family.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Erin Marie Swanson, daughter, Morgan Taylor Starr, and his four siblings, Tammy Layne, Jamie Schimp, Ronald Schimp, and Jimmy Schimp. His family and friends will forever treasure his memory and the example that he set of love, sacrifice, and resilience.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on March 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home in Port Orange, Florida.
May his spirit rest in peace and may his legacy of care and devotion continue to inspire all who knew him.
