Joseph F. Kennedy, born November 14, 1943, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was called to heaven leaving behind a legacy of devotion to God, family and others. Joe was the cherished husband of his devoted wife, Mary, with whom he shared 61 wonderful years of marriage. Their life together stood as a symbol of commitment, faith, and lasting love. He often reminded those around him how much they meant to him – often saying with sincerity: “This is the best family in the whole world.”
A man of deep and unwavering faith, Joe accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and lived his life guided by that belief. He prayed every day and found great inspiration from the Book of Revelation. His trust in God shaped the way he treated others and made him a role model to many who knew him. Joe had a warm and joyful personality and family members affectionately referred to him as ‘Hun, Teddy Bear, Poppe, Poppa, Dad, Brother, Joey, Johnny, JW and Corona-Bob’. He loved sweets, was a huge fan of JW (IYKYK), and had a special gift for bringing a smile to nearly everyone he met. Whether through conversation, humor, or simple kindness, he brightened the lives of many.
Joe dedicated more than 40 years of service to International Paper Company as a Field Service Technician. Known for his strong work ethic and reliability, he proudly completed his entire career without taking a single sick day. His dedication and sense of responsibility were admired by colleagues and friends alike. Beyond his professional life, Joe had a heart for service. He cared deeply about those who serve others, especially members of the military and firefighters, and he held a special concern for the unborn and the homeless. He also volunteered at a local hospital in transportation services, generously giving his time to help patients and staff.
