Joy R. Anderson formerly of Lodi & Medina, OH, passed away April 13, 2026, after a short illness. A 1975 graduate of Cloverleaf High School and graduate of The Ohio State University, Joy had a varied and interesting career, including as a teacher at Medina County Career Center and Rittman High School; owner/operator of Joy’s Place, a popular diner in Medina; and finally as Office Manager at General Maintenance in Medina.
Retiring in 2018, she moved to Ormond Beach, Florida, where she spent the next 8 years living her best life enjoying the sunshine, her many hobbies (including her newest passion creating beautiful quilts), and spending time with all her new friends. Joy was exactly what her name said: a JOY to everyone who knew her. Her laugh, energy and love she gave to her friends and family will be greatly missed.
Joy is survived by her two labradoodles Bella and Brody, her sister-in-law Karen Anderson, nephew Lucas (Laura) Anderson (their children Logan, Lincoln and Lea), niece Brooke Anderson (her children Jay and Maia), and many, many loving cousins.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents Ora Carl Anderson and Mary Ann (Baird) Anderson and brother Kenneth Anderson.
A memorial service will be held at Lodi United Methodist Church on August 1, 2026, at 3 pm with a Celebration of Life following at the Medina Eagles at 5:00 pm for family and friends.
In honor of Joy’s love for animals, donations could be made in her name to your local animal shelter or SPCA.
