Kay Gagarin, 86, of Port Orange, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025. Born on February 28, 1939 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Kay lived a full and meaningful life marked by independence, creativity, and warmth.
Kay spent much of her professional life in the retail industry, holding positions with Marshall Fields, May Company, Steel Case, and Saks Fifth Avenue, before finishing her career as an Administrative Associate at IBM in California. She took pride in everything she did and brought energy, resourcefulness, and a friendly conversational touch to everyone she met.
Married to the late James Gagarin for eighteen years, Kay’s love and devotion to him remained constant throughout her life. A talented decorator and community volunteer, she chaired her neighborhood’s Trash & Treasure event for four years and coordinated the annual Christmas Tree decorating at the clubhouse of Crane Lakes for three years. Despite her fear of driving, she embraced life’s adventures with the help of friends, public transportation, her scooter, or golf cart.
Kay had a deep affection for animals, especially dogs and cats, and delighted in decorating her home for holidays – Christmas being her favorite.
She is fondly remembered by many friends and neighbors. She is also survived by family members, Ron and Dollie Peralta, Michael, Alicia, Brandon and Jennifer Gagarin, Alex and Frank Pepito. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no memorial service. Her ashes will be spread off the coast of Southern California beside her beloved husband. Please remember Kay in your hearts and prayers.
