Lola Stine Canupp, age 87, passed away peacefully June 25, 2020, due to complications related to lung cancer. She was born October 15, 1932, in Toler, Kentucky to Arnold and Leola Bevins. She married her husband, James Reece Canupp, on March 15, 1952, who preceded her in death in January 2019.
Lola had a nearly photographic memory for the events and people that touched her life and enjoyed recounting these memories to her family and friends. Before moving to Edgewater, Florida, in 2008, she and James lived in Orlando since 1973. Lola loved cooking, but nothing beat a simple pan of homemade cornbread and beans. For many years Lola volunteered at the Presbyterian Church in Orlando where she and James attended. Family and friends were more important than anything to her and she prided herself on keeping in touch with people close to her through the years. One of her loves was picking out the perfect birthday, anniversary, Thanksgiving and Christmas card for her friends, relatives, children, and grandchildren who called her "Nana."
Lola is survived by her sister, Deborah Waller of Dandridge, Tennessee, her brother-in-law Jeff Waller; her children, Vida Simpson, Rodney Canupp, Jeffery Canupp, her son-in-law Michael Simpson, daughter-in-law Robin Canupp; grandchildren, Jadron Smith, Abra Smith, Kyle Canupp, Sarah Canupp; and great-grandchildren, Mollie Smith, Alleigh Canupp, Mackenzie Canupp, and Ryder Canupp.
A graveside service celebrating her life will be held on Monday, June 29, 2020, at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens in Edgewater, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in Lola's name to Halifax Hospice, Southeast Volusia Care Center, 4140 South Ridgewood Avenue, Edgewater, FL 32141.
