Lucretia R. Lutz, 62, of Edgewater, FL, passed away early the morning of January 17, 2024, surrounded by her family. Born in Trenton, NJ, Lou moved to the Volusia County area as a young girl, graduating from New Smyrna Beach Senior High School. She continued her education at Keiser University, where she also became a bursar for many years after achieving her accounting degree. The rock of her family, Lou was the oldest child of Donald and Lucretia C. Heaton, who owned the Indian Mound Fish Camp in Oak Hill. Lou enjoyed shrimping at the fish camp, and lobstering in the Keys with her entire family. Known for her crafty abilities, she was renowned for her knitting, crocheting, and quilting – even crafting lace tablecloths by hand. Lou’s other hobbies included being in the outdoors, fishing, and riding motorcycles, but her greatest passion in life was her grandchildren whom she adored and spoiled. The “Best Grandma EVER!” will be fondly remembered by her husband of 38 years, Mark Lutz; mother, Lucretia C. Heaton; three sons, Paul (Rose) Lutz, Brandon Lutz, and Alex (Sarah) Lutz; brother, Don (Nikki) Heaton and sisters Yvonne (Chris) Brodie and Michele (Oakley) Solms; and her beloved 9 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial donations to be made to Halifax Health Hospice in appreciation of the care Lucretia received at home throughout the past few months. Lou’s ashes will be scattered in the waters of the Halifax River/Intercoastal Waterway where she found joy and peace growing up.
