Obituary of Manuel T. Amaral
Manuel Tavares Amaral, (known by all as Manny), 81, a resident of Daytona Beach, FL, passed away at his home on May 11, 2022. Manny was born and raised in Ajuda, Bretanha, Sao Miguel, Azores until he was 12 years old when he moved with his family to New Bedford, MA. He was a proud United States Army Veteran who served in the Vietnam War. He moved to Florida with his family in 1979 where he became a Dunkin Donut franchise owner. He is predeceased by his parents Antonio and Maria Medeiros Amaral as well as his siblings Gloria Rodrigues, Natalie McDermott, and Jose Amaral. His is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Jo-Ann Souza Amaral, daughter Kimberly Amaral-Spin, daughter Jennifer Amaral Matkovics (Bo Sadusk), son James Spin, grandchildren Jacob and Jordan Matkovics, Blake and Brooke Sadusk, sister Maria Cardoso, and brother Eduardo Amaral, as well as many nieces and nephews and numerous dear friends. He had an endless sense of adventure that led led him to parasailing, bungee jumping, numerous sky dives, and in his late 70’s, taking a ride on a fighter jet. He also enjoyed bowling, tennis, playing poker and spending time with his Vietnam Veteran friends. Manny will always be remembered for his quick wit and infectious sense of humor as well as his love for his family. Manny’s Celebration of Life, with reception, is to be held from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 21,, 2022 at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home at 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd, Port Orange, FL 32129. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 605 8th St., Daytona Beach, FL 32117.
