Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Ronald Allan Scott. She was a devoted mother to their 7 children and a proud grandmother to 18 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Peggy was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on May 12, 1938, to her parents, Margaret Alyce and Hugh Mackinaw. She was the second-oldest of 13 children. Peggy was proud to be a Mackinaw and loved being part of such a large, loving family. She attended St. Catherine’s Elementary School and Church, and later John Carroll High School, where she sang in the choir and played basketball, softball, and volleyball. She was a devout Catholic.
Peggy met her husband, Ron, while they were working together at TCI, and they married in 1959. Together, they raised seven children: Mark Scott, Traci Titus (Keith), Brian Scott (Becky), Allison Wilson (Steve), Kelly Brant (Dave) Heather Gardner (Stephen) and Peggy Finnerty (Shaun). The family lived in many places over the years, embracing each move as an adventure through Ron’s career. In 1984, they eventually settled in Port Orange, Florida. In 2021, Peggy and Ron moved to John Knox Village in Orange City, Florida, where they formed wonderful friendships and enjoyed their later years.
As a dedicated homemaker, Peggy was the heart of her family. She loved being a mother and “Mimi” and always said it was her greatest joy. Peggy often told people that God put her on this Earth to be a mother. She found happiness in time spent with family, traveling the world with Ron, crafting, and hosting family gatherings. She also had a love of shopping, which earned her the well-deserved title of “power shopper.”
Peggy loved all things holiday, especially Christmas. Decorating her home and welcoming friends and family for Christmas parties brought her so much joy.
She will be remembered for her selfless nature, her unwavering and devoted love for her family, and her “Mimi-isms.” Peggy never said a bad word about anyone and touched the lives of all who knew her. And for those closest to her, her memory will always bring a smile, reminding us of her familiar phrase, “what else ya got?”
