Mary C. Amaral

With profound love and gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of Mary C. Amaral, who entered into eternal rest on July 2, 2026.

Mary was welcomed into Heaven by her beloved parents, Lionel and Jo-Anna Souza and husband Arthur F. Amaral.

She leaves behind a family who will forever treasure her love: her devoted sons, Michael (Joyce) Amaral, Robert Amaral, Steve Amaral, and Christopher Amaral; her beloved grandchildren, Courtney (Nelson) Matos and Michael Scott (Alyssa) Amaral; her precious great-grandchildren, Mason Matos and Maya Matos whom she adored; her loving sister, Jo-Ann Amaral; her dear nieces, Jennifer and Kimberly; along with many godchildren, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives were enriched by her kindness.

Mary's greatest gift was the love she gave so freely. Family was the center of her world, and she found her greatest happiness in caring for those she loved. She had a remarkable way of making everyone feel welcome, accepted, and important.

She was a woman of strong faith whose actions spoke louder than words. Mary taught those around her that love is shown through kindness, patience, generosity, and service. She believed that the smallest acts of compassion could make the biggest difference, and she lived that belief every day. Whether offering a listening ear, lending a helping hand, or simply sharing her beautiful smile, Mary touched hearts in ways that will never be forgotten.

Mary had a creative spirit and found joy in sewing, knitting, needlepoint, and crocheting. Every stitch she made was an expression of love. Through her church ministry, she lovingly created prayer shawls to comfort those in need and blankets to welcome newborn babies into the world. Her hands were always busy creating something beautiful for someone else. She was also a beautician and owned her own beauty salon for many years.

She had a deep love for animals, enjoyed singing, and in her younger years shared her musical talents by playing the organ. She treasured gatherings with family and friends and especially enjoyed lunches and special outings with her sister and her dear friends.

More than anything, Mary taught her family how to live with grace, humility, and unconditional love. She showed them the importance of putting others first, cherishing every moment together, keeping faith through life's joys and challenges, and finding happiness in the simple blessings of life. Her lessons were never preached—they were lived. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren carry those lessons in their hearts and will continue her legacy of love for generations to come.

Though our hearts are broken, we are comforted by the countless memories she gave us and by knowing that love never ends. Mary's gentle spirit, generous heart, unwavering faith, and endless devotion to her family will remain with all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and lovingly remembered.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m.

A fellowship brunch will immediately follow the service at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home Port Orange, Florida

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Mary's honor to The Humane Society or St. Jude Children's Hospital
