Mary Jane Thompson

Mary Jane Thompson, affectionately known as "Jane" to her family and friends, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2026. Born on January 25, 1958, in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, Jane was the cherished daughter of Allen and Helen Thompson, both of whom she joins in eternal rest.

Jane's life was rich with love, laughter, and dedication. She graduated from Mainland High School in 1975 and went on to earn her RN degree from Daytona Beach COmmunity College, followed by a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Leo University. Her passion for nursing led her to a fulfilling career at Halifax Hospital, where she specialized in both the emergency room and pre-operative surgery. Jane's compassionate care and professionalism left an indelible mark on her colleagues and patients alike.

A proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Jane was deeply involved in her community and the arts. Her love for film found a home in the Enzian Film Society, and she was a steadfast supporter of preservation and the arts.

Jane had a zest for life that was evident in her varied interests. She was an avid traveler, with a particular fondness for cruising and spending summers in her beloved Bar Harbor, Maine - her "happy place." Her curiosity knew no bounds, as she delved into quilting, cooking, ancestry research, photography, and enjoyed good films. Jane's love of learning and quick wit endeared her to many, and her generous heart and gift for acceptance made her a beloved friend to all.

She leaves behind her brothers Bob Thompson of Port Orange, Florida and Bill Thompson with his wife Michelle of North Carolina, as well as her cherished nieces, Melissa of Austin Texas, and Theresa of Aspen Hill, Maryland. Jane's family was her pride and joy, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Jane's medical teams and friends for their unwavering support and care during her final days. In keeping with Jane's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor her memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jane's memory to a charitable organization of your choice, reflecting her lifelong commitment to helping others.

Jane Thompson will be remembered for her boundless kindness, her love for life, and her unwavering dedication to those she held dear. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.
