Phyllis was born on November 16, 1950, in Birmingham, Alabama. She was a registered nurse for 30 years during which she achieved the Outstanding Nurse Award from the Children’s Hospital. She was a member for many years of the First Baptist Church of Graymont in Birmingham.
She was married to James Foster and they had a daughter (Jharman) and son (Jamal). Phyllis is predeceased by her husband who died on November 2, 2016.
As nurturing was her nature, Phyllis loved to take care of others. She also enjoyed writing, traveling, and entertaining. Phyllis also loved her family very much; they would all enjoy family games while listening to gospel, jazz and soul music. Phyllis passed away in Port Orange, FL, on March 12, 2018, and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter Jharman (Rayford) Lightner, her son (Jamal), and her grandchildren Elias and Elianna Lightner; and is also survived by her brother Stanley Joseph (Carolyn), her sister Christine Stafford (Jess).
