OBITUARY

Rebecca S. Dodds

October 8, 1960May 27, 2019

Rebecca S. Dodds, 58, of Port Orange, FL, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2019. Becky was born October 8, 1960, in Atchison, KS, to her loving parents Donald and Norma Keltner.

Becky started her career as a bank teller in Topeka, KS, where she worked for several banks including Anchor Savings. After leaving Topeka, she came up through the ranks of the banking system with C&S Bank, Nations Bank and Bank of America in Savannah, GA. She was one of the two people in charge of the Professional & Executive Branch for Bank of America. Her final position prior to retiring was with Wachovia Insurance of Savannah where she handled all insurance for the national organization of Girls Scouts of America.

Time at the beach sunning, hunting for sea shells and shark’s teeth were just a few of the things that Becky loved most. She also enjoyed many crafts including cross stitch and painting. She loved going on cruises with her family and listening to blues music, attending festivals and concerts was something she loved to do with Frank. More than anything, Becky loved spending time with her family, many friends and loving pets. Becky shared her love for animals as a volunteer for the Jacksonville Humane Society.

What made Becky laugh the most was time with her friends. Many of her friends were from Topeka where she graduated from Topeka West High School; they would always meet at Taco Villa in Topeka to catch up. Much fun and laughter was had talking about old times and friendships.

Becky learned you can never spend too much time with family and friends. She cherished her relationship with her two sons and her many friends. She was very active on social media as a way to stay in touch with all.

Becky is survived by her husband of 34 years, Frank Dodds of Port Orange, FL, two sons, Caleb Franklin Dodds of Wilmington, NC, and Cody Allen Dodds of Jacksonville Beach, FL; her three sisters, Kristina Hughes of Topeka, KS, Laurie Luksa of Denton, TX, and Emily Roman of Belleville, IL.

A sweet and beautiful mother to her two sons, a loving and caring wife and a great friend to so many is how Becky would want to be remembered.

A Celebration of Life Event for Becky will be held at 3 pm, June 15, 2019, at the Crestview Community Center meeting room, 4801 SW Shunga Dr., Topeka, KS 66614.

Becky’s family has asked that in lieu of flowers a donation be made in her name to the Jacksonville Humane Society.
