

Robert W. Brown, Jr , 65, of New Smyrna Beach, formerly of Highlands NJ passed away October 6th after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Born September 20, 1951 to the late Bill and Ruth Brown, he is survived by his wife Laurie of New Smyrna Beach, daughter Tara (Bob and Bobby) Deichler of Ohio, son Robert (Logan and Marshall) Brown of Florida, stepdaughters Heather (Wade and Clarity) Peterson of Colorado, Angela Lewis of New Smyrna Beach. Bob is also survived by sister Christy (Ed) Mara of PA, brother Lewis (Dona) Brown of NJ and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Preceded in death by his first wife Jane Horan Brown, Bob was born on the Army base at Ft. Monmouth, NJ and raised in Highlands, NJ before relocating to Port Orange, FL in 1991. He was a graduate of Henry Hudson Regional High School and of Brookdale Community College. Bob served his country in Viet Nam as an Army helicopter mechanic and served as a volunteer fire fighter in Highlands in the 1980’s. Retiring from the US Postal Service where he had been a mail carrier and a mechanic, Bob loved taking his dogs to the beach and riding his motorcycle any chance he could. He had a passion for music and was a talented drummer who was fortunate to be able to play in various bands throughout his life. He will be missed by everyone that knew him. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Sunday, October 16, 2016 at 2pm in the chapel of Shannon Maloney Funeral Home, 4084 Halifax Dr., Port Orange FL. All friends and family are invited to attend, and share stories and memories.
