Ronald George Buday

Ron had a true zest for life and an uncanny ability to always look forward. Even at 93, he kept up with the latest developments and technology, maintained a keen business mind, and had an incredible memory for the many adventures and accomplishments of his life.

Ron graduated from James Whitcomb Riley High School in South Bend and attended Indiana University, where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta and Army ROTC. After graduating, he served as a lieutenant in Germany, an experience that allowed him to travel throughout Europe.

Ron went on to build a long and successful career in sales, management, manufacturing, and entrepreneurship. He eventually moved to California, where he led several start-up companies. He remained interested in business, the stock market, and new ideas throughout his life.

Ron loved fancy cars, IU football, travel, good food, music, and—most of all—people. He maintained an extensive circle of friends with whom he stayed in regular contact, often gathering for hearty meals, big laughs, and concerts. In his later years, he also made a concentrated effort to spend time with his five children and eleven grandchildren.

Ron remained active and engaged until the very end. In the days before his death, he was enthusiastically discussing house projects, a fall trip to Indiana, and, most importantly, his upcoming 95th birthday celebration. He was certain he would make it and was feeling great.

Ron is survived by his five children: Veronica and husband Richard, Brigette, Gigi and husband Jeff, Robert and wife Tamara, and Colette and husband Eric; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his brothers George Buday and wife Carolyn, and Thomas Buday and wife Diane; and five nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Margaret Buday, and his former spouse and mother of his children, Mary Esther Buday.

A private family celebration of life will be held in Indiana, and Ron’s ashes will be interred at a Veterans cemetery.
