Born Ruth Ettershank Schilling in Bayonne, NJ, on February 8, 1924, Ruth spent her childhood days during the Great Depression, which likely led to her determined spirit and exceptional will to persevere.
Ruth worked for 25 years for M&M/Mars in Hackettstown, NJ, as Office Coordinator. She enjoyed traveling, playing tennis, bowling, sewing, and spending summers on the Jersey Shore. After her retirement and the untimely loss of her beloved husband, James Russell Hill, she moved to Daytona Beach to pursue her love of golf and warm weather. She became an outstanding golfer, even sinking 2 holes-in-one at Pelican Bay. She spent her time off the golf course with her girlfriends playing bridge. Her later years were spent in the constant companionship of her faithful and beloved dog Abby.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Susan and Jane, her grandchildren, Breccia, Braden, Kyle and Marissa, and her lovely great-granddaughter Kendra, as well as Abby.
Ruth was her family's North Star, constant, sure, unwavering. She will be sorely missed.
