Samuel Daniel Craun, age 89, of Port Orange, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, at his residence. Sam was born October 18, 1931, in The Plains, Virginia. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1948. He was selected to tryout for the St. Louis Browns baseball team; from there he went to work for Safeway Stores, Inc. until he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served honorably from 1954-1956. Upon return to Virginia, he went back to his job at Safeway working his way to store manager until retirement in 1988. After retirement he moved from Centreville, VA, to Port Orange, FL, where he enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Anne Tinsley Craun, his two sons Gregory Daniel Craun (Linda Kirby Craun) from Port Orange, FL, and Barry Thomas Craun (Elisa Dietrich Craun) from Port Orange, FL. Five grandchildren; Tyler Daniel Craun, Sarah Christine Craun, Tanner Addison Cantrell, Brandon Charles Cantrell, and Logan Elisa Cantrell.
